The Knowledge Burden.
A senior citizen, browsing through a market center in Dhantara, India, was very upset for having been “ignored” by a group of few Hare Krishna devotees, who had been collecting donated fruit and vegetables at the local street fair.
He approached another senior citizen, sitting comfortably by the sidewalk, caring for a cat on his lap, while appreciating the commercial movement, and said:
– “Have you ever noticed how bluntly some of these youngsters, still very inexperienced and undisciplined in life, can just ignore and pass us by as if we weren´t even there? I think that´s quite disrespectful, as, with our white hair and loads of experience, they should be approaching us humbly and paying their most resonant respects!”
The other senior citizen slightly nodded, but considered:
– “I do understand your viewpoint… but you´d be surprised how things could be viewed differently if we just took the broader glance on the matter…”
– “And what would that broader glance on the matter be like?”
– “The very fact that you carry so much knowledge and experience could be making you appear to the youngsters as a heavily burdened and suffered being… and all of your assets could be overshadowing the simplicity and spontaneity of your Light Being within, pretty much as a well-polished diamond can be totally covered by layers of perfumed silky velvet… that burden could be making you, instead, appear to their eyes as the human being who they might consider as the unsuitable one for them to approach and talk to…”
And saying so, the sitting man went back to caring for the cat on his lap, that was purring comfortably.
While the original senior citizen, taken aback by the lesson, experienced the most intense insight of his life and, slowly, walked away … towards a new reality!
